A contemporary urban garden in Blackrock, Dublin, designed as a private outdoor living space within a compact city setting. This project transforms a confined footprint into a layered and highly functional garden, balancing clean architectural structure with soft, immersive planting.The garden features a cantilevered garden room, sunken fire pit seating area, corten steel screens and lush planting surrounding an existing mature beech tree.

It is hard to believe that this tranquil, secluded, private garden is Located just minutes from the heart of Dublin city. The garden was long and narrow (60m x 12m) with the only access for construction being through part of the house and a door that was less than a meter wide. Undeterred by the challenges, the final garden featured a sunken garden with natural gas fireplace, polished concrete patios and dining area, custom made furniture in timber and polished concrete, Bespoke Corten steel wall screens and a large garden room with bi-fold doors and swing. A complete planting scheme was carefully designed to enhance the atmosphere of escapism within the garden. All images here were taken just one year after construction.

This project demonstrates how even the most compact urban gardens can be transformed into refined, functional outdoor spaces through considered design and careful detailing.
