Why choose a Garden Designer?

Unfortunately today in Ireland there are many landscaping companies that claim to design and build gardens often without taking the proper time to plan the garden on paper. However designing a garden is not something that should be rushed, after all you wouldn’t ask a builder to design your house, you would trust this job to your architect.

Well here at Andrew Christopher Designs we take the time to carefully plan out every detail of your garden from hard landscaping to planting. This means that before the first sod has been turned in your garden you will know the answers to all the important questions like, what will your garden look like?, how much maintenance will it require and most importantly what will it cost.

Here is how it works.

Step 1 – Initial Consultation

Once you have booked a design consultation at a time convenient to you Andrew Christopher will meet with you in your garden to discuss with you your wants, needs, likes/dislikes and perhaps offer you suggestions as to the direction your garden design should take. At this point he will set out design costs and you may wish to discuss a budget for the completed project.

Step 2 – Site survey

After agreeing design terms with the client we will return to your garden and undertake a complete site survey. Here we will take note of any structures/plants you wish to incorporate into the design and measure and photograph the entire site.

Step 3 – Design

We will then produce a set of scale drawings detailing your new garden. A mood board will be produced which will show elements of interest (materials, plants, structures, furniture) that may be used in your garden. Secondly, a plan view drawing will show in detail the overall look of your garden as viewed from above. And finally in order to help you build up a clear view of what your garden will look like we will supply you with a number of 3D computer renderings of your garden design.

Step 4 – Construction

It is easy to design a beautiful garden however it is more difficult to design one that can be built on budget. With this in mind we design all our gardens in direct consultation with our in house landscape construction company Grassroots Landscaping.

This means that we can tell you how long the project will take, when can we start and how much it will cost all at the design stage. Andrew Christopher will also oversee every project personally at no extra cost to you.
